A unique design challenge
Dog Copenhagen, known for its high-quality dog harnesses and accessories, wanted to expand its product range into interior products, starting with dog bowls, but not just any dog bowl. They wanted to create a functional and visually outstanding indoor food and water bowl with design inspiration from classic Danish furniture merged with industrial and modern design trends. This required precision, craftsmanship, and in-depth understanding of material properties, making us an ideal partner for this project.
To bring this concept to life, DOG Copenhagen teamed up with the Danish design duo byKATO to finalize the product's shape, functionality, and choice of materials. The next step was finding a suitable manufacturing partner. That's when Jan, CEO of DOG Copenhagen, chose us. When we asked him "Why us?" He answered: "It was important for us to find a local European manufacturer specializing in bended plywood production using only wood coming from suitable forests and quickly came in contact with G-Desmet, well-known for their knowledge and experience in this exact field."

Precision and craftsmanship
At G-Desmet, we understand that bending wood is both a science and an art. The DOG Copenhagen project required complex curvatures that not only served a structural function but also contributed to the product's sleek and elegant aesthetic. By using our unique bending techniques, we were able to deliver components that met both the designer's and the brand's high standards.
Plywood was the ideal material choice for this project due to its durability, flexibility, and sustainability. Composed of multiple layers of wood veneer, plywood retains its shape exceptionally well, making it perfect for intricate designs.
